Link of the Quarter - Motion Art
Friday, June 15th, 2007
Well, as I'm trying to seek some more balance in my life one of the things that I decided that I needed to correct was the lack of blogging. I still like it, so why am I not doing it? I'll start off with a link.... those are always fun to post.Tim Knowles is an artist. He specializes in capturing the motion of objects that we would otherwise consider stationary. There are pictures of the reflections of full moons in water, very cool. He's attached pens to the branches of trees and put up the resulting work, very cool indeed. Having an art background (my mother has taught me art since I was 5 and I was originally an art major at Penn State) I find the work sparse, lacking in composition, color and the work looks incomplete. In contrast to that, I find it very intriguing. Knowing a tree 'drew' this artwork is very interesting. I find it freeing, immensely interesting and amazingly complex considering what created it. Feel free to browse around the site; I think you'll find it more absorbing than you think.
EDIT: I was told that the previous link wasn't working, apparently when this is rendering the link it's adding a lot of other stuff. I'll have to check it out. Manually copy and past the link below to see it.

I'm interested to see what a drawing made in the midst of an earthquake would look like. More emotion that I expected is displayed in these pieces and I bet an earthquake would be very volatile.
